Information for unique student situations
Non-degree seeking, option 1: Undergraduate Student Not Seeking a UWEC Degree
You are a non-degree (special) student if you have graduated from a recognized high school (or earned an equivalent credential) but not currently working toward a UW-Eau Claire degree. Special students can enroll in classes approximately one week before the start of the semester. Please note that non-degree students are not eligible for financial aid.
Non-degree seeking, option 2: Audit a Class
You are considered an auditing student if you would like to take a class without earning credit. You can find specifics on who can audit a class and related requirements in our catalog. Auditing students can enroll in classes on the first day of the semester.
Wisconsin residents under 60 years old pay 30% of the current tuition and all required fees. Wisconsin seniors (60+) pay no tuition for audited courses but do pay fees. For all others, please refer to this Class Audit Policy.
