UWEC – Barron County hosting documentary as part of Indigenous Peoples Celebration

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire – Barron County is hosting a special screening of the documentary “Bad River: A Story of Defiance” as part of its annual Indigenous Peoples Celebration on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

The film that displays a powerful narrative of resilience and resistance will be shown from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Rice Lake campus. The critically acclaimed documentary highlights the courageous stand of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe against environmental degradation and their fight for Indigenous rights. 

Following the screening, a Q&A session will include panelists Esie Leoso, Edith Leoso and Dylan Jennings, who are featured in the documentary and will share their personal experiences and insights. 

Community members are invited to mingle with guests and enjoy a selection of hors d’oeuvres before the documentary screening.
